Seismic Hazard, and Iranian Tectonics : ISTerre Knowledge Transfer

Résumé

This multi-disciplinary research project takes advantage of a recent improvement in political relations between France and Iran to re-establish collaborative links with leading Earth Science institutions (thus, building on new nationally coordinated efforts such as the TRIGGER GDRI). Several different research projects are presented, which collectively address aspects of the tectonic evolution and associated seismic hazard and risk of Iran, spanning a broad range of timescales. We seek financial support (complementing additional science funding from a separate Labex+ project), to facilitate travel of several Iranian students and researchers to Grenoble, to train in new techniques, and strengthen scientific collaborations. Additional support is requested to host two workshops, one in Iran to promote scientific cooperation between French and Iranian Earth Scientists, and one international workshop (WEGENER) in Grenoble for which we search to support contributions of our Iranian collaborators.
