The work will be focused on detection of small magnitude earthquakes using an array of seismological stations deployed on the eastern border of the Massif Central where volcanic activity is attested until 10 ky (Ardèche recent volcanism). Beamforming and template matching techniques will be used to detect and locate new events in the region. The newly detected events will then be explored with machine learning methods to separate different origin (e.g. man induced, tectonic and possibly deep volcanic events) of the detected signals. The goal is to test the existence of deep events which can reveal the activation of the ancient volcanic system and to investigate the optimal conditions for a future seismic deployment.
